Apas Port Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; Representative Director: Daisuke Sasaki), a creative production company specializing in digital content, is pleased to announce the expansion of its cryptocurrency lending service, HARVEST FLOW, to the Cardano blockchain with the launch of a new lending pool, “Cardano Tuktuk.”

Cardano Tuktuk is a new lending pool on HARVEST FLOW that allows participants to lend ADA on the Cardano blockchain, with the funds used to finance vehicle loans for tuk-tuk drivers working in Cambodia.

The ADA provided by participants is used to help local drivers acquire tuk-tuks, enabling them to generate their own income. Loan repayments made by the drivers serve as the source of returns for lenders, who can receive an annual interest rate of 8%, along with a Proof of Support “ON” CHAIN ART (NFT) as a certificate of their contribution.

With a maturity period of just three months—the shortest ever offered by HARVEST FLOW—and a minimum participation amount of 100 ADA (approximately JPY 2,500 at the time of announcement), the pool is designed to make cryptocurrency lending more accessible, including to first-time participants.

In Japan, financing a vehicle through a loan is a common option. However, in many parts of the world, limited access to financial services and strict credit requirements make vehicle ownership a significant challenge.

For tuk-tuk drivers in Cambodia, a vehicle is more than just a means of transportation. It is an essential tool for earning a sustainable income, supporting local residents and tourists, and providing for their families.

Unfortunately, individuals without sufficient credit histories or collateral often face difficulties obtaining vehicle financing through traditional financial institutions.

Through Cardano Tuktuk, ADA lent by participants is used to provide vehicle loans to these local drivers. By acquiring their own tuk-tuks, drivers gain the opportunity to generate income, while their loan repayments provide the financial basis for lenders’ returns.

This initiative is carried out in collaboration with Global Mobility Service Inc. (GMS), which equips vehicles with Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

By utilizing data such as driving activity and repayment status, the system provides greater visibility into vehicle usage while helping reduce the risks of missed payments and theft.

The technology also enables remote control of vehicle activation based on repayment conditions and other factors, creating a system designed to offer safer and more sustainable financing opportunities to individuals who have traditionally faced barriers to accessing financial services.

Since October 2023, HARVEST FLOW has provided financing for more than 155 tuk-tuks in Cambodia.

The initiative represents a new model of socially impactful asset management that creates value for both those providing financial support and the individuals whose livelihoods benefit from it.
